i've been toying with the idea of a homemade video projector using an lcd screen - as pointed out by keith.

this appears to have usefully stuff of many flavors are reasonable prices.

for the money I was thinking of just starting with a normal overhead projector. it would be fun to try and condense it but there are a few problems. for one the bulbs are 85vdc and so you would have to make some special powersupply for it and it would have to be kind of a good one cause it has to put out 350+ watts. some of the newer projectors have some method for prolonging lamp life so you get 120 hours out of a 75h bulb so if you really did end up using the thing it would probably be worth it.

i probalby won't be hauling my projector anywhere so the added size really doesn't matter to me.
