subaru christmas eve stuck

Christmas Eve sledding my passegers joked that i could not make it up a hill.
I tried it. They were wrong. I made it up a ways. it was the backing down I screwed up on.
pictures have poor depth of field - if i were much closer to the edge, i'd of slipped off and i'd need a tow truck or a winch and a day to get out.
it was not high centered, but the drivers side just SUNK into the snow, and the passengers side was on a sheet of ice: pretty funny to leave it in drive and watch BOTH passenger side wheels just spin slowly. I guess subaru got something right because 1st gear on the automatic force 50% power to front and 50% power to back differentials. I think there is some computer controlled limit slip in teh differentials 'cuz even on the sheet of ice it managed to claw out after we ripped down a snag, tore it in half length wise, and drove out on it.

Keanen is the other funny looking guy.

nice job getting stuck... where was your yellow shovel? keith dug juanita out of her garage at apt complex with my yellow shovel. very useful when you get 80" of snow in a week and a half.

that last picture of you and the dog is really quite good. you should crop it a little, though. make it tall instead of long and put your head about 1/3 of the way down.

yellow shovel not in car as we were on a trip and had packed in a bunch of stuff.
i've acrappy red shovel (1$ at garage sale) i've put aside for such a task, but that did not make it in the trip for space reasons. maybe i'll learn my lesson. maybe i'll jus put the yellow shovel in. that baby rocks. i remember a time my yellow shovel and your jeep met...

if I remember the jeep meet a SNOWSHOE when it got stuck. we didn't have a shovel. you should have learned your lesson THEN!

nice pic of the stuck car. awesome idea to use the snag.

what is that that your carrying with the dog? some kinda minni skateboard snowboard type 'kevin' concept?

and one last thing. you and ONLY you could make a 300$ jacket look liked it belongs at the good will with those STUPID shoes you had in highschool!@ (you know, the ONES ON YOUR FEET in the pics)

yeah. that is a good jacket. that baby rocks.
and yes, those, uhhh, *were* good shoes. i just can't seem to get rid of them even though most of the guts are gone and there a holes the size of my toes in them.

that 'thing' is my birthday present from shopkco.
a 'sno skate' mini snoboard thing. strong plastic, spongy on the top (thin grippy stuff) - and what you can't see: snowboard wax on the bottom, compliments of keanen.
it's got just enough drag so I can ride it in powder, and not enough of an edge to turn on glazed ice. quite a fun ride. I road down the hill behind the duplex last week. good thing on a whim last summer i removed the 10 wheelbarrow's worth of rocks from the hill.

jen said you had your yellow shovel and I was the one stuck with the yellow shovel. we have since purchased another yellow shovel and jen keeps it in her jeep.

I have a half height round point in the back of the golf. so far all of the action it has gotten is diggin out my street access cause the plot came by and blocked my street off. so with my measly 3-1/2 inches of clearance I wasn't going to ram the crust, so I got to use my shovel (it was actually a house warming gift when we moved in, and was inteded for the garden I think).

yellow shovel now in the car.
this weekend the freezing rain was so slick that i softly put on the brakes and the car started to slide. sideways. the abs didn't even try. maybe it's cause i backed off the breaks REAL fast, but extreemly slick it was. about a mile later i almost got rear ended as a car behind me could not stop (i was making a left, signaled WAY ahead of time and SLOWLY stopped) so it slid around me in the other lane. lucily there was no oncoming traffic. 4 wheel drive may start well, but it still stops like 2 wheel drive. I'd of hated to have been rear ended by the subaru that slid past me.
