I beleive this to be very similar to the CMV CT-529A.

---LCD---
Model: CMV CT-520D
Size: 15"
Resolution: 1024x768
Color: 16.7 Million
Contrast: 500:1
Response: 16ms
Pixel pitch: Horizontal 0.297mm x Vertical 0.297mm
Inputs: Analog 15-pin D-sub, Digital 24-pin DVI_D
Power: External transformer. in: 100-240VAC~50-60Hz 1.2A out:12VDC 4.0A
FFC Issue: NO (2 FFC Cables do not need extending)

---Purchased---
http://www.icuepc.com/www/productdetail.asp?did=353 because of the 3 dead pixel replament policy for $169 usd as on 2.1.2004

---Quality---
It looks better then my old 19" CRT and has MUCH better response time and color then my dell 8100 notebook. The digital vs Analog input seems to have a slightly better color.

rumer has it that the PixelWorks chipset is supperior to other chipsets (well, the Genesis chipset is rumered to be good too. i've done NO research into this matter)

nice TFT

so are you going to use good old glass as you heat sheild or are you going to use GE LEXAN to block the heat?

explain the discrepancy in price. your link says 189, you claim 169. did the price go up?

is there any possiblity of remounting the TFT in a clear case so you could use it as both a monitor and just slide it in the projector for projection?

price went up 20$ (my 169 included free shiping. it was a one day sale)

i've considered lexan, but it will tend to bow with heat. i've not decided yet, but i want to keep the elementts of glass/plastic between the bulb and lcd as few as possible so i can get as much light.
home depo sells some coated lexan that will block most uv for pretty cheep.

once taken appart, the lcd is VERY thin and fragile and those flexible cables are pretty weak. i'm not too hot on the idea of making it transformable at the expense of having it only last a few months. it's also a mess to mount it all in the projector box. you invert the display (turn it upside down, and put the face of the monitor towards the light source as the image gets inverted)
thankfully this means that the electronics that are on the back and connected at the 'top' of the display are really into the focusing box on the cool side of the projector and on the floor of the the box for easy mouting. the only kinda bad thing is i'll probaby put the 7 buton input board on the floor and have to touch the buttons on the BOTTOM of the box as i'm too cheep to extend the ffc (flat flexible cable).

I'll still probably end up putting a high presure sodium bulb in and shipping and all that will run me about 140$. bulb costs aboutu 38$ before shipping and should last several years of my use. This will push the cost to about 400$ , not inlcuding wood, switches, fans, and a composite - vga adaptor box if i decide not to use my computer.
i'm VERY anxious to build it and compare it to the tru 2000 lumen projectors we have at work. we've two ofo them. the lumenlabs guys all build them, but no one has done a true side by side comparison. i'd love to see how our stack up.

WOW, that price went up 30$ as they are now asking 189 + 10 shipping. cool. i'm happy.

another thing to consider is the backligh of the lcd. i'd have to put the clear plastic case back into the backligh structure to be used as a regular monitor.

furthermore, i plan on hacking up the plastic parts of the monitor to help mount the lcd securly so it won't break.

icuepc also sold me a compac flash reader 7 in 1 thingy for 6$ and told me it had a 3 port usb hub in it.
oops. it did not. that was the other model. i complained, and they refunded the 6$ to my card and let me keep the product. cool.

7-1 link awe, i see they fixed their descriptoin.

THe CMV CT-529A was what i was going to get before the CT-520D came out. Many people like that one, yet some claim that the BenQ 567s V2 (and new 900 series) is smoother speed better color. since i've got nothing to compare it to, and am looking to save some change, i figured i'd pioneer the 520D. To my knowledge, no one else has used the 520D yet. 3 of use ventured into the unkown on lumenlabs.com for if this panel was friendly on the inside and i had my tutorial for stipping the panel up before 1 guy even GOT his.
