funny ruby
i've been reading about Ruby off and on for a few weeks.
http://www.whytheluckystiff.net/ruby/pickaxe/ makes for some good reading.
While i found the parent http://www.whytheluckystiff.net/ totally unrelated to programming, it is absolutely histairical.

thr ruby thing does look interesting... if i had time to learn and do some programming.
the root web page is just weird. really weird.
i read a few chapters of the http://www.rubycentral.com/book/
and was getting quite excited about it last night. the dude that wrote Ruby has implemented MANY things the way i've always wanted them. short, consciese readable syntax, objects that can inherit and suto polymorphism - I played against a GUI ! othello game that was written in less then 14kb and it beat me. this is amazing stuff.
when i can install a pocket wiki webpage on my own computer that is portable (runs off a penstick) in ONE CLICK, i'm sold. the WEBrick webserver in ruby bears some investigation.
give a link to this one click install of wiki thing your talking about. any good links to sample code for ruby? it looks like it may be shell programming meets interpreter, which may be just what i'm looking to learn. replace all those crappy .BAT files with something with power.
