check gone astray

We deposited a check via atm (from our insurance agency) about a month ago.
this week we got a letter from our bank that indicated they had LOST the check and wanted us to contact the origional provider, have them issue a stop payment and have them reissue the check OR provide documentation with where the check cleared .
seems like a lot of work on my part when they are the ones that lost my check!
i was furious. i wanted to tell someone to check the security camera and get the check info from that - but alodia handled it very well, and our insurance agent came to our aid and did most of the work for us. Awesome service. You go Ken Hughey!

If you move to spokane, we've got the insurance agent for you.

that was really, super nice of the agent to do that for you.
what is up with the bank loosing the check?? that is really weird! did they have a digital copy of the check? my understanding is that now that is as good as the actual check.

it was an atm deposit, so my guess is there was the atm record tha said 111$ and then no envelope. so they are asuming they lost it (they did).

but who knows, maybe it's digitized somewhere. if it is, the bank sure is not letting on about it.
we've yet to have final confirmation from AAA about the resolution, but last I knew, they were working on it as most I was in contact with said this is a very rare thing.
the way i see it, even if it doesn't work out 110$ is not 1100$. so who am I to complain too loudly.

No, I don't believe there's any digital version. The letter states: "Your transaction identified below and presented at the Financial Center did not reach our processing center."

I believe that it made it into the atm machine, then from there, it didn't make it to the next place where they process the monies that have come in from the atm machine.
